A body has been discovered on a slip road after police received reports of a man in distress on a footbridge over the M4. South Wales Police were alerted shortly before 9.30pm on Saturday near Junction 36.
Upon arrival, officers found the body of a 24-year-old man on the slip road. Paramedics from the South Wales Ambulance Service also responded and attempted to resuscitate him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man has been identified as being from Litchard, Bridgend. His family has confirmed his identity and is currently receiving support from specialist officers.
In response to the incident, the motorway was temporarily closed in both directions to facilitate the presence of emergency services and crime scene investigators. A spokesperson for South Wales Police stated, "Officers were called to the M4 footbridge near Junction 36 shortly before 9:30pm on Saturday December 6 following a report of a man in distress. The body of a man was located on the slip road nearby upon emergency services' arrival. Ambulance unsuccessfully attempted resuscitation. The motorway was briefly closed in both directions to allow for police and CSI attendance. The man has been identified as a 24-year-old man from Litchard, Bridgend. His family are aware and have confirmed ID, and are being supported."
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man's death is ongoing as authorities continue to gather information.
