INGLEWOOD – The City of Inglewood Finance Department is asking the Inglewood City Council to amend the 2025-2026 budget. They want to include $96 million in encumbrances to carry over into this fiscal year, which began on October 1.
This would mean the City is sitting on an additional $96 million. This amount wasn’t noted in the 2025-2026 budget when it was approved in September.
The City mailed out public hearing notices saying that the Water Fund would have a negative fund balance by the end of the current fiscal year. This was to justify increasing the water bills. However, how is that possible when they have an additional $5 million socked away according to the Dec. 9 city council agenda?
