Fraser Olender, who stars on Bravo’s “Below Deck,” says he suffered a heart attack and lung injury linked to vaping and is now urging others to quit the habit immediately.
The 33-year-old television personality shared his medical ordeal in an Instagram post Friday, revealing he was hospitalized a few weeks ago with severe chest pains and breathing problems. After a week with specialists in London hospitals, doctors diagnosed him with E-cigarette or Vaping-Associated Lung Injury, known as EVALI.
“I have never experienced fear or pain like it,” Olender wrote.
The diagnosis led to a coronary artery vasospasm, a condition where arteries supplying blood to the heart suddenly constrict. The spasm triggered what doctors call an ST-elevation myocardial infarction, or STEMI heart attack.
