TOLEDO, Ohio — A popular Toledo-area bakery is closing its doors after almost 20 years in business.
Cake in a Cup, which is currently located on West Central Avenue near I-475 in Sylvania Township, announced they are closing up shop when their lease is up next Spring.
The bakery, which specializes primarily in cupcakes, also sells espresso and coffee drinks, as well as ice cream.
A large part of their business comes from catering.
Dana Iliev and Lori Jacobs, who opened the store, told WTOL 11 in 2008 that they had been looking for an idea to bring back to Toledo from big cities in the East.
At the time, specialty cupcake shops were all the rage.
Once they settled on the idea, Dana and Lori said they began playing around with recipes until they had it just perfect.
