SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — On the brink of suffering its first six-point sweep this weekend, the Bemidji State men’s hockey team snatched two points out of thin air on the road against Augustana.
Just over two minutes remaining in regulation, Oliver Peer scored the game-tying goal, his team-leading 12th this season, in a 6-on-5 situation. It knotted the game at 4-4, and the score held through the end of regulation and 3-on-3 overtime.
While the final result is a tie, Peer and Connor McClennon scored in the shootout, while freshman goaltender Max Hildebrand stopped both of Augie’s attempts, to claim the extra shootout point.
Sunday’s contest at Midco Arena was moved from Saturday’s 6:07 p.m. timeslot due to ice conditions.
