Georgia football’ s first foray into the 12-team College Football Playoff tournament didn’t go great.
The Bulldogs had to re-boot with Gunner Stockton making his first college start and lost to Notre Dame 23-10.
The quarterback wasn’t the reason the Bulldogs were bounced, but is a big reason why Georgia is returning to the Sugar Bowl as a No. 2 seed for the Jan. 1 game.
Georgia will take a nine-game winning streak into the CFP and a return trip to New Orleans.
That’s the fourth longest streak in the nation. Only Indiana (13), James Madison (11) and Notre Dame (10) have won more in a row and two-loss Notre Dame was left out when Miami and Alabama got in.
Georgia will get the winner of a first-round game between Ole Miss and Tulane in Oxford.
The Bulldogs won the SEC championship
