Department of Homeland Security spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin adamantly denied that Immigrations and Customs Enforcement officers ran over a man’s foot during a Vancouver arrest last week, an encounter that is being investigated by local police.
Witnesses captured video on Thursday when ICE agents stopped 27-year-old Jose Guadalupe Paniagua Calderon at Fourth Plain and Grand boulevards. At least one ICE agent got in Paniagua Calderon’s Jeep to move it off the road. As the agent moved the car forward, Paniagua Calderon, who was on the ground with his feet near the tires, began to scream.
Vancouver police are investigating the incident based on the videos, they said late Friday.
In a statement to media, McLaughlin said claims that ICE agents ran over Paniagua Calderon’s leg are false
