A man was walking his dog Saturday morning when he was hit and killed by an SUV in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, and the driver involved has been arrested.
Hopkinton police say the deadly crash occurred around 7:21 a.m. on Spring Street, NBC10 Boston affiliate WJAR reports. An investigation shows 41-year-old Shannon Godbout was driving east when she left her travel lane and struck multiple objects, including two utility poles, before she hit 70-year-old Roderick Macleod, who was walking in the eastbound lane with his dog.

Macleod, of Richmond, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to WJAR.
Macleod's dog survived the crash and ran home, police told WJAR.
