The Toledo Walleye have had the knack of battling in tight, one-goal games this season, usually with positive results.
Eleven of the Walleye’s 20 games have been decided by just one goal this season. Toledo improved to 5-2-4 in those close games by rallying for a 3-2 win over Indy in a Sunday afternoon game at the Huntington Center.
The Walleye trailed for much of the game before battling back with two goals 44 seconds apart late in the third period to earn the two points.
“You’ve got to be able to play in these tight checking, one-goal games,” Walleye coach Pat Mikesch said. “I think it shows how good our division is. We haven't had an easy game in probably a year and a half. We talked a lot about that last year, and the number of one-goal games we played in was insane.”
