EUGENE — Autzen Stadium will host one of the bigger games in its history when Oregon takes on James Madison in the College Football Playoff.

The No. 5 seed Ducks (11-1) will welcome the No. 12 seed Dukes (12-1), the Sun Belt champions, in a first round game on Dec. 20 (4:30 p.m., TNT/HBO Max).

The caliber of the matchup notwithstanding, the historic nature of the first CFP game in Autzen history and the stakes — the winner advances to face No. 4 seed Texas Tech in the Orange Bowl and the loser’s season is over — make for what could be massive homefield advantage.
