CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla. (WCTV) - Wakulla County commissioners will hold a public workshop Monday evening to help residents understand how county services could be affected if property taxes are eliminated throughout the state.
Currently, lawmakers are considering several versions of a bill to eliminate non-school property taxes, which would mean Wakulla County could lose out on roughly $18 million, according to Commissioner Ralph Thomas.
If the proposal is approved by the legislature, voters would make the final decision during the November election.
“We had that conversation and we said ‘If that happens in November, we’re going to have to make some hard decisions,’ so let’s prepare for that now. Let’s do our homework now,” Thomas said.
