NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. — State troopers are investigating a crash that left a pedestrian dead on Sunday night in Newberry County.

Master Trooper Hannah Davidson with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the incident occurred around 6:20 p.m. on State Park Road south of Prosperity. Davidson said a 2019 Toyota SUV was heading south on the road when it hit a pedestrian. Davidson said the pedestrian died at the scene of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The Newberry County Sheriff's Office will be responsible for sharing the name of the deceased victim.
