Indiana University Fort Wayne students studying for a dental career will have access to new equipment thanks to a $174,000 Don Wood Foundation grant, a news release said.

The funding will support the purchase of advanced computer-aided design and manufacturing software and related equipment – tools that will help prepare students for careers in dental technology, the release said.

The technology has become essential to designing and fabricating modern dental appliances, said Colleen Painter, dental technology program director.

Along with designing implant and orthodontic appliances, the grant-funded equipment can be used to produce models, crowns and dentures, among other items, the release said.
