A person was shot by an officer with the Dixon Police Department on Saturday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The person was pointing a gun at police prior to the shooting, CHP said. It is unclear what led up to the altercation.

The person who was shot was taken to a hospital. Their condition is unknown.

KCRA 3's Cecil Hannibal is at the scene gathering more information. Several agencies have responded and crime scene tape is set up at the Chevron gas station on Sievers Road.

No officers were injured, according to CHP. CHP said some of its officers were present during the shooting, but were not involved.
