OLYMPIA, Wash. – Washington lawmakers are gearing up for the 2026 legislative session set to begin on January 12, and a range of new proposals are already being introduced.
One proposal aims to tax paid protestors by including them in the state's definition of temporary staffing.
Another bipartisan plan seeks to push Washington to study nuclear power, but only with private funding.
Lawmakers are also considering new tax ideas, including restoring a billion-dollar tax break and creating a payroll tax for large employers.
Additionally, a fee on new car purchases could double to support the state's arbitration program for warranty complaints.
