State regulators did not take up a DTE Energy request to approve contracts with developers of a massive multibillion dollar data center project slated for Saline Township during their Dec. 5 meeting — despite backers hoping for a speedy approval over opposition to the development.
The Michigan Public Service Commission , a three-member body tasked with overseeing utility companies in the state, has not yet voted on DTE's request, a regulatory hurdle to providing a substantial amount of energy for the proposed data facility. The Detroit-based utility has an agreement with developers to provide an initial 1.4 gigawatts of electricity for the data center that's subject to regulatory approval.
