Pueblo Transit's fleet is poised for an upgrade following a nearly $16 million federal grant aimed at replacing diesel buses with hybrids.
The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded $15.7 million to Pueblo Transit as part of its Buses & Bus Facilities Program and Low- or No-Emission Program, the transportation agency announced. The funds will enable the city to replace its aging diesel buses with hybrid models, reducing emissions and modernizing the fleet.
“We received 96% of our ask which is significant, Mayor Heather Graham said in the announcement. "We are incredibly grateful to the FTA to receive this grant which will not only changes the face of our fleet but lowers emission in our city which benefits our residents in multiple ways.”
