At issue is whether President Trump can fire Rebecca Slaughter , a Democratic commissioner on the Federal Trade Commission. In March, she received an email from the White House, informing her she was being removed from office. The reason given for her firing was not that she had done any wrongdoing, but rather that her continued service did not align with Trump's priorities.
