A Chinese virologist, Li-Meng Yan, who claimed the coronavirus was developed in a Wuhan laboratory , and who has been hiding in the US fearing Beijing's retaliation, has now said she is afraid the Chinese government is using her relatives to lure her back and carry out "the perfect crime", according to the US media reports.
Li-Meng Yan had made headlines when she claimed to have proof to show that the deadly virus was made in the Wuhan lab. She reportedly fled China after becoming a whistleblower in the case in 2020.
Yan had been working at a prestigious lab at the University of Hong Kong with her husband when the coronavirus pandemic broke out, with the new virologist quickly becoming convinced that the Chinese government purposefully grew the contagion and released it to the public
