Building on his “America First” reorientation of U.S. national security strategy, President Donald Trump proudly announced his foreign policy will be modeled on the 1823 Monroe Doctrine, in which President warned Europe to keep out of America’s backyard in the Western Hemisphere.
“My Administration proudly reaffirms this promise under a new ‘Trump Corollary’ to the Monroe Doctrine: That the American people — not foreign nations nor globalist institutions — will always control their own destiny in our hemisphere,” Trump said in a Dec. 2 proclamation .
