Olympics 2036 may well be coming to India and Ahmedabad should start preparing for its moment on the world stage, said Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday while inaugurating Rs 1,507-crore development works of the AMC.
Pointing to the city’s state-of-the-art infrastructure, growing sporting culture, and swift urban transformation, Shah said Ahmedabad is emerging as the frontrunner in India’s bid for the Games.
He noted that the 2030 Commonwealth Games have already been allotted to Ahmedabad, supported by the Sardar Patel Sports Enclave rising next to the world’s largest cricket stadium.
The 2029 World Police and Fire Games will also be held in the city, along with 13 international events in the run-up to 2036. “Get ready, because the 2036 Olympics will also be held in Ahmedabad,” he
