LAKE SUPERIOR — The Hudsongracht sat anchored outside Duluth on Sunday, waiting to unload general cargo from Antwerp, Belgium, and/or Gdansk, Poland.
According to the Harbor Lookout webpage, the 454-long Hudsongracht is a Netherlands-owned, Netherlands-flagged oceangoing multipurpose dry cargo carrier. The ship was built in 2008 in Taizhou, China. Previous names include BBC Alaska and HHL Elbe.
International ship traffic is winding down for the season in anticipation of the annual closing of the Soo Locks, which is expected to occur Jan. 15.
