A woman was surprised at how "convenient" Blinkit’s instant doctor-call service helped her buy prescription-based medicines from the quick-commerce app. But his questionable service by Blinkit, highlights an even wider discussion about patient safety, medical ethics and India’s already fragile antibiotic governance.

An X user, named Neha Moolchandani, ordered Candiderma Plus cream, Cheston Cold and Flu tablets and Azicip (an antibiotic) from Blinkit. Within minutes, she was connected to a “general physician” on the app who approved the exact medicines she had already placed in her cart.

The consultation, she said, lasted barely a minute.

Her post drew immediate criticism from senior medical professionals who flagged the potential harm of such an “order-and-approve” system.
