Alan Shearer has warned Newcastle United they must sharpen up ahead of a huge week after 'getting away with it' against Burnley on Saturday.

The Magpies were coasting to victory over the relegation-threatened Clarets , leading 2-0 at half-time with the visitors also reduced to 10 men.

Burnley had looked bright in the opening exchanges, but Bruno Guimaraes's stunning corner kick goal allayed Newcastle's nerves, and when Lucas Pires was shown a straight red card just before the break for bringing down Anthony Elanga when he was clear on goal gave them another huge advantage.
