PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Drivers were seeing delays on I-464 north and I-264 east in Portsmouth following an earlier security incident, according to VDOT.

Although the incident has been cleared, crews remained on scene for a period of time even after the official alert expired. VDOT reported that the eastbound lanes and multiple connecting ramps were affected during the response.

Authorities have not yet released additional details about what prompted the security response. We have reached out to police for more information.

VDOT says all lanes and the ramp have reopened on I-264 east at the Berkley Bridge in Norfolk, and traffic is now flowing regularly.
