The best management books illuminate something we need to grapple with and provide a foundation for improvement.
This year’s top book, Blindspotting by psychologist turned business coach Martin Dubin, has the notion of illumination captured in the very title itself, and chooses to focus on six big barriers that can trip us up. They include some not dealt with often and therefore when I list them your response may be confusion or disbelief: Identity, motive, traits, emotions, intellect and behaviour.
But any of them – perhaps all of them – could be subtly holding you back. And they are explored in depth, rigorously, with lots of examples and advice,
