The conversion of a former pet shop in south Liverpool into a new convenience store has been met with a backlash in the community. A bid has been lodged with the city council to repurpose a vacant unit on Allerton Road into a new shop.

The site has long been used as a pet store with the previous occupant, Pets Corner , confirming last November the business would vacate Mossley Hill after six years to take up new premises. Plans for a 7am to 11pm corner shop have ignited strong feelings around the area however.
