Saturday Night Live standout Marcello Hernández has set his debut stand-up comedy special at Netflix .

The hourlong special, titled American Boy , begins streaming January 7 on Netflix. Written by Hernández, the special was filmed in front of a hometown crowd in Miami. In it, Hernández comedically reflects on growing up as a first-generation American.

Nicholaus Goossen directs. Hernández and Matthew Vaughan executive produce. The special is produced by Rotten Science.

In addition to SNL where he has been a featured player since 2023, Hernández recently joined the voice cast of Shrek 5 as Shrek and Fiona’s son Fergus. He’s also been cast in The Angry Birds Movie 3, set for release in 2026 and can currently be seen in Happy Gilmore 2.
