Thomas Frank admitted he would have replaced Dominic Solanke with Mathys Tel in Tottenham 's Champions League squad with hindsight.
Tel was left out of Spurs' squad for the league phase of the competition in a significant blow to the £30million signing.
UEFA rules allow clubs to add a previously unregistered player in the squad as a replacement for an injured player who is out for at least 60 days.
Solanke has been out since August with an ankle injury which required surgery , meaning Spurs could have brought Tel into the squad in his place during that period.
Frank has been unwilling to provide a timeframe for Solanke's return, but there is no indication of him making an imminent comeback.
