Nationwide has issued a major update over customers' kitchens and bathrooms. Nationwide, which has branches in Birmingham , has a subsidiary called the Mortgage Works.

And the Mortgage Works has found kitchen and bathroom renovations are most popular amongst Buy to Let investors who have made improvements in the last five years.

It found 18 per cent made green improvements, such as adding solar panels or insulation - but over 50 per cent, half of those surveyed, said they regretted renovating their rental properties. The analysis suggests adding an extra bathroom can boost BTL property value by 8 per cent.
