Residents of a rural road west of Simcoe awoke to find police cruisers blocking in their street early on Thursday morning. Under the cover of morning darkness, heavily armed tactical officers advanced on a house.

Norfolk County OPP said the officers had a warrant to search the property on McDowell Road, between Bill’s Corners and Hillcrest Road, where they allegedly found guns, drugs and stolen property and placed one person under arrest.

Officers seized prohibited weapons and replica firearms, along with cash, drug paraphernalia and “a quantity of suspected illicit drugs,” according to a media release.

Police pegged the value of the seized items at over $15,000.
