Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Monday apprehended Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Police of Jajpur Town, Nanda Kishore Das, while allegedly accepting Rs 5,000 bribe.

According to a Vigilance release, the ASI had demanded illegal gratification from a beetle shop owner to help him in a land dispute-related case in which he was the investigating officer. ADVERTISEMENT

Earlier, the beetle shop owner had moved the Orissa High Court for demarcation of his land. Following which, the authority concerned demarcated the land as per the court orders. “But the neighbour of the shop owner with whom he had a dispute, allegedly demolished the boundary wall constructed by him.
