ORLANDO, Fla. -- Former Detroit Tigers right-hander Drew VerHagen has signed up for his fifth season overseas and his first in Korea.
VerHagen agreed to a one-year deal with SSG Landers after spending the last two seasons with the Nippon Ham Fighters in Japan.
VerHagen, 35, is essentially taking the place of right-hander Drew Anderson, who recently agreed to a one-year deal with the Tigers after an outstanding season in Korea.
The Tigers selected VerHagen out of Vanderbilt University in the fourth round of the 2012 draft. He made 127 appearances in the big leagues from 2014-2019, mainly as a reliever.
VerHagen was designated for assignment and outrighted in each of his last two seasons in Detroit, but he bounced back both times and found late-season success at the big-league level
