A new report is teasing the next era of Studio Ghibli , and it's something fans across the globe have been waiting years for. While Ghibli may be lying dormant in terms of new releases, their classic lineup of films are getting the high-definition release that they've always deserved.
According to a report by Deadline , North American distributor GKids is partnering with Imax to bring 4K restorations of classic Ghibli films to cinemas in 2026. This move follows GKids' wildly successful 4K rerelease of Princess Mononoke. Studio Ghibli veteran Atsushi Okui is overseeing the rerelease project, ensuring that the new releases stay as faithful as possible.
GKids is certainly excited about the new releases, as the company's CEO, Eric Beckman, was ecstatic about the restoration project.
