ST. MATTHEWS — Former Colleton County Clerk of Court Rebecca “Becky” Hill , who managed the 2023 double-murder trial of Alex Murdaugh, pleaded guilty to several charges stemming from the abuse of her public office.

Hill appeared Dec. 8 at the Calhoun County courthouse, where Circuit Judge Heath P. Taylor gave her credit for the day she spent in jail earlier this year and sentenced her to three years of probation, plus 100 hours of community service.

The State Law Enforcement Division charged Hill in May with two counts of misconduct in office, one count of obstructing justice and one count of perjury. The charges stem from allegations that Hill paid herself bonuses, lied to a judge while under oath, released sealed photographic evidence during Murdaugh's trial and used her elected po
