COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina Gamecocks have announced they'll be playing Kent State to open the next football season.
The team said Monday they'll taken on the Golden Flashes on Saturday, September 5 at Williams-Brice Stadium. A gametime has not yet been set.
The two teams have played just once before back in 1995, when the Gamecocks got one of their biggest blowouts in program history, a 77-14 win over the team. In that game, Gamecock legend Steve Taneyhill passed for 263 yards and 4 touchdowns. The 77 points is still the modern school record for the Gamecocks.
USC is coming off a 4-8 season that included a 1-7 record in SEC conference play. USC and all SEC teams are moving to a nine-game conference schedule for the upcoming year, giving them just three non-conference games to
