With snow falling since about 6 a.m. in the Charleston area and up to five inches of snow possible across southern West Virginia on Monday, several area school districts have changed their learning plans for Monday.

Notably, Kanawha County Schools will close two hours early today.

The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a Winter Storm Warning for much of southwest and southern West Virginia through 9 p.m. Monday.

Expect 3-5 inches of snow to fall by this evening. Localized totals could be higher, mostly in southern counties. Plan on slippery road conditions. Slow down and use caution while driving. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.
