A 64-year-old man died in a Friday evening crash on Route 283 in Dauphin County, the coroner’s office said.

Londonderry Fire Co. said Lancaster County resident George Eby’s vehicle went off the eastbound side of the highway around 5:30 p.m., into a wooded area between the Vine Street and Toll House Road exits in Londonderry Township.

Eby was unresponsive when emergency responders arrived, the fire department said. He died at the scene.

The Dauphin County Coroner’s Office said Eby’s cause and manner of death are pending a Tuesday autopsy.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the crash. It is unknown why Eby left the highway.
