A driver was killed when she crashed into a metal traffic signal pole at a Lower Valley intersection, El Paso police said.

Sylvia Morales, 68, of El Paso, was killed in a single-vehicle crash that occurred shortly before 3 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7, at the intersection of North Loop Drive and Yarbrough Drive, stated a news release issued Monday, Dec. 8, by Sgt. Robert Gomez, a police spokesman.

Morales was driving a 2025 Nissan Rouge eastbound on the North Loop Drive when she attempted to make a left turn onto Yarbrough and crashed into a traffic signal support pole, police reported.

Morales was transported to Del Sol Medical Center, where she died of her injuries, police said. The crash is under investigation by the Special Traffic Investigations Unit.
