GODDARD, Kan. (KAKE) - Tanganyika Wildlife Park in suburban Wichita says two of its sloths have died recently and two others are receiving intensive care for kidney failure.
Last month, Tanganyika announced that Oscar had passed. In a Facebook post on Saturday, the park said Molasses, a female sloth, had died recently as well.
"Whenever an animal passes away—especially one that is not of geriatric age—our veterinary and animal care teams immediately begin working to understand why," Saturday's post said. "Given the sudden decline of multiple animals of the same species, we have brought in additional expertise from veterinarians across the country who specialize in sloth medicine and have been consulting closely with colleagues at other zoological institutions."
