WASHINGTON — A person of interest related to the shooting of New York Jets player Kris Boyd is in custody, the U.S. Marshal's Buffalo office has .

A 20-year-old man from the Bronx on Monday in Amherst, a suburb east of Buffalo, New York, weeks after the NYPD released of the wanted gunman.

The Buffalo suburb is nearly 400 miles and a 6-hour drive from New York City, where the shooting took place on Nov. 16.

The person of interest's name has yet to be released. It's expected that they will return to New York City to face charges. The U.S. Marshals Service and New York Police Department were both involved in the apprehension of the "person of interest," .

Boyd, a 29-year-old cornerback for the Jets, was critically shot in the abdomen just over three weeks ago in midtown Manhattan.
