PORTAGE, MI — Zap Zone XL has hung its sign at The Crossroads mall, near Macy’s.
Beyond the blacked-out windows, power tools whirled inside the 158,186 square-foot building.
Branding from a shuttered Sears still hangs over the front doors.
The XL venue will offer “state-of-the-art” attractions including bowling, go-karts, an adventure park, a skating rink, laser tag, mini golf and an arcade across two floors.
Zap Zone purchased 6780 S. Westnedge Ave. for $2.78 million in October 2024, public records show. It applied for building permits in January.
The company could not be reached for more information about an anticipated opening date.
The venue is a $12 million to $15 million project, Zap Zone President Mike Hafez stated in a city liquor license application.
