FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Five people, including four children, were pronounced dead after a house fire in Porterville late Sunday night, according to the Porterville Fire Department.
Fire officials say around 11:18 p.m., fire crews were called to a home for a structure fire in the area of S. Indiana Street and Poplar Avenue. When firefighters arrived, they reported that the home had a significant fire within and started search and rescue operations.
During the search, crews say they found one adult and four children inside the home. All five victims were later pronounced deceased.
“This is a devastating loss for the family and for our community,” said Fire Chief Bryan Cogburn. “Our thoughts and condolences are with the loved ones affected by this tragedy.”
