A charging decision by San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins is expected Monday in the fatal stabbing at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center's famed HIV/AIDS ward. The community is reacting to the identification of the victim, a gay, married UCSF social worker who succumbed to his injuries Saturday.

Alberto Rangel, 51, is remembered as a beloved support group leader for people living with HIV. Longtime Castro resident and artist Harry Breaux stated via Facebook, “Just sayin’…..I’ll miss my Friday support group leader, Alberto. RIP and gratitude for all you gave. Your loss is wrong in so many ways.”

A GoFundMe has been set up for Rangel by Dr. Monica Gandhi. At publication, it has raised nearly $69,000.
