Applying for a Chinese visa will soon become easier for Indians via a new online application system that will be launched on December 22, the Chinese embassy in India notified on Monday.

"Applicants could enjoy convenience of filling out the form and uploading application materials online," Xu Feihong, Chinese ambassador to India, posted on social media platform X.

This means Indian applicants no longer need to book appointments in advance to submit their documents at the Chinese Visa Application Service Centers (CVASCs).

This is the latest in a series of "people-centric" confidence-building measures to restore India-China ties strained for nearly five years after the deadly clash at the Galwan Valley in May 2020.
