A new documentary is digging up more details of a New York man whose body was found buried in a basement, 55 years after his wife told their children he abandoned them.

“The Secrets We Bury,” a standalone special coming to ID and HBO Max next week, follows Mike Carroll and his family’s efforts to solve the mystery of Mike’s father, George Carroll. George’s remains were found on Halloween night in 2018, underneath their home in Lake Grove, Long Island.

According to People magazine, George “vanished without a trace” in 1963, leaving behind his wife, Dorothy, and four children under age 10.
