SPOKANE, Wash. — Recent rain across the region sent a surge of water into the Spokane River. It's currently running nearly a foot higher than this time last year. With more rain in the forecast water levels could be pushed even higher.

While a rising water level is no mystery, the same can't be said for the appearance of a bicycle on top of an old train trestle pier in the middle of the river in Peaceful Valley.

For years, a bike has mysteriously appeared on top of one of the piers. Now a second bike is standing on the second pier.

The mystery of the bikes leaves many people online debating exactly how the bikes arrived on top of the concrete piers which seem to have smooth sides that would be difficult to climb.
