Indianapolis Colts starting quarterback Daniel Jones ruptured his right Achilles tendon late in the first quarter of Sunday’s 36-19 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars , a source confirmed Monday. The injury will place Jones on IR and it ends his first season in Indianapolis four games short of the end of the regular season.
The loss of Jones, coupled with former backup quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr.’s continued healing of his surgically-repaired orbital bone as he remains on IR, leaves rookie quarterback Riley Leonard, who played the first meaningful snaps of his NFL career Sunday, as the team’s new starting quarterback.
