An AC technician was arrested on Monday for strangling his 32-year-old female friend, the city police said. The deceased, Jabeeda Khatun, hailed from Assam’s Darrang. The accused, identified as Sanjay (26), lived in Kalyanpur in Rajasthan’s Kotputli.

Jabeeda had gone missing after she left her residence on the intervening night of November 26 and 27, police said. She had told a friend that she was going out with a male friend and would return in two hours. However, as her phone remained unreachable, a complaint was registered at Sector 17/18 police station on December 1.

On Monday morning, a decomposed body of the woman was found buried near the Power Grid Corporation building in Sector 29. Forensic and dog squad teams were pressed into service and the body was later sent for a post-mort
