LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced that the state wants to name Blanchard Springs Caverns as the 53rd Arkansas State Park.

The governor made the announcement from the Arkansas State Capitol on Monday, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the US Forest Service that aims to allow the State of Arkansas to acquire the Blanchard Springs Cavern complex and create the 53rd state park.

The caverns, which are located in Stone County, would be known as Blanchard Springs State Park if approved. Blanchard Springs is the second largest cave system in Arkansas.
